New research university to open in Astana

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Cardiff University signed a memorandum on the establishment of an World-Class Research University in Astana, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to the memorandum, Cardiff University is included in the project as a main partner.  According to Rudolph Allemann, Vice-Chancellor of International and Student Recruitment at Cardiff University, "This cooperation will contribute to the convergence of Kazakh-British cooperation in the field of higher education."

During the meeting, an agreement was reached on the implementation of educational programs and research technologies by Cardiff University in such key areas as engineering, artificial intelligence, sustainable development, medicine and biotechnology.
