Natural gas consumption increased in Kazakhstan

Taking into account the growth of the economy, domestic consumption of natural gas has increased significantly by more than 2 billion m³ compared to 2020, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

In order to provide the country's economy with gas, a number of measures are being taken:

- Legislative changes were adopted to stimulate gas production.

—work is underway to implement new gas processing plants, including at the Kashagan and Karachaganak fields. As a result, starting from the current year, an increase in the production of commercial gas is expected with a significant increase in 2025.

Until the end of the 1st half of this year:

- a plan for energy efficiency and rational consumption of commercial gas will be developed;

- a mechanism of differentiated tariffs for gas will be prepared, stimulating its careful consumption for household consumers with the exception of the population receiving targeted social assistance.
