The Kazakhstan Institute of Economic Research has prepared a National Rating of the Quality of Life in the context of 25 cities of Kazakhstan, according to data for 2022, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the institute.
The rating includes three factors: "Economy and Business", "Human Resources" and "Infrastructure".
"The highest wage indicators are observed in industrial single-industry towns of the country, regional centers of the western regions of the country, as well as in the cities of Astana and Almaty, which makes them relatively attractive against the background of other cities," the report said.
According to the index of "high cost of life", the highest values of the subsistence minimum were noted in nine cities - Zhanaozen, Astana, Ridder, Stepnogorsk, Almaty, Ekibastuz, Balkhash, Ust-Kamenogorsk and Atyrau.
Turkestan, Aktobe, Uralsk, Petropavlovsk and Taraz are recognized as less expensive cities for life. For example, the subsistence minimum in Turkestan is cheaper by 1.5 times, in comparison with Zhanaozen.
"The highest unemployment rate in relation to the number of employees is observed in the city of Turkestan, the lowest rate in Zhanaozen," the ministry said.
