Observers plan to visit polling stations in Astana and Akmola region

The mission of observers from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization began its work within the framework of the early elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Representatives plan to visit polling stations in Astana and Akmola region, the correspondent of El.kz reports.

“I met with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Abdirov. I think it means that the observer mission at the early elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan began its work from today," the head of the SCO observer mission Zhang Ming told during a briefing.

According to Zhang Ming, all SCO member states supported the invitation of Kazakhstan. Thus, the mission consists of 18 observers, including representatives of the legislative, executive and electoral bodies of the SCO member states, as well as officials of the SCO secretariat, the executive committee of the regional anti-terrorist structure of the organization.

“Members of the mission, observers carry out their work independently guided by the principles of political objectivity, neutrality, non-interference in internal affairs. I would like to express my gratitude to the CEC of Kazakhstan for the support and assistance provided in the SCO mission," Zhang Ming said.
