The Ministry of Information and Social Development has published special recommendations on the ethics of publications affecting the legitimate interests and rights of children in the media. This was discussed at the round table "Media Ethics and Protection of Children's Rights", organized by the Ministry of Information and Social Development, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the department.
As you know, recently the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed at the expanded council for the socio-economic development of the country to legislatively strengthen measures to protect the rights of women and children, pay special attention to the promotion of family values, Minister of Information and Social Development Darkhan Kydyrali said. - Especially, in the media, we must pay special attention to the observance of the rights of the child.
The recommendations developed by the ministry summarize professional expert opinion and apply to all media in the country.
According to the agency, since the beginning of 2023, 2,435 violations related to the information security of children have been identified in the media.
According to the minister, in many countries of the world, the dissemination of information about minor victims of violence is prohibited by law.
Unfortunately, the media often allow the dissemination of materials on the topic of violence and suicide against minors. This is a violation not only of ethical principles, but also of the requirements of the law.
The meeting was addressed by the Deputy Head of UNICEF in Kazakhstan Leticia Bazzia-Vale, the Chairman of the Committee for the Protection of Children's Rights of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Nasymzhan Ospanova, a member of the National Commission for Women, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, an employee of UN Women Dinara Kusayin, a journalist, PhD doctor, professor at Yasawi University - Moldiyar Yergebekov, a deputy of the Mazhilis Gaukhar Tanasheva, members of the National Commission on Women's Affairs, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, representatives of human rights organizations and media experts.
