Majilis Speaker Yerlan Koshanov held talks with Chair of Parliament of Tajikistan Rustami Emomali, El.kz reports citing the Majilis' press service.
At the beginning of the meeting, Yerlan Koshanov congratulated his Tajik counterpart on the successful parliamentary elections and the re-election of Rustami Emomali as Speaker of the upper chamber of the Tajik Parliament. He emphasized that Kazakhstan and Tajikistan are bound by centuries-old ties of friendship and cooperation, and that regular meetings between Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Emomali Rahmon strengthen bilateral relations.
The parties discussed prospects for expanding inter-parliamentary ties, emphasizing the importance of cooperation within international organizations and parliamentary friendship groups.
Particular attention was given to digital innovations. Yerlan Koshanov noted that Kazakhstan ranks 24th in the UN E-Government Development Index, with more than 90% of public services in the country provided online. He spoke about the Majilis’ work on the draft Law “On Artificial Intelligence” and the Digital Code, expressing readiness to share experience in this field.
The Tajik side expressed interest in social reforms in Kazakhstan. In particular, attention was drawn to the 2019 Law “On the Status of Teachers,” which improved the standing of educators.
Rustami Emomali thanked for the warm welcome and emphasized that developing relations with Kazakhstan is one of Tajikistan’s foreign policy priorities. He noted the broad prospects for cooperation in trade, investment, innovation, agriculture, and culture.
Following the meeting, both sides expressed confidence that the visit of the Chairman of the Parliament of Tajikistan would mark a new step in strengthening friendship and partnership between the two countries.
