Almaty is becoming a key center for the IT industry and esports in Central Asia. The Almaty Cyber Games (ACG) launched in the city is aimed at creating the main esports hub in the region,El.kz reports.
ACG is the first large-scale esports event that reaches about 6 million viewers through broadcasts on the Setanta family of TV channels. Major companies such as Logitech and Tencent Games have joined the project, which will support the integration of Almaty into the global esports scene.
The city's universities have already developed educational programs to train more than 70 specialists in the field of esports. Also, since the beginning of the year, 2.5 billion tenge has been attracted to the development of the IT ecosystem, which made it possible to create 217 new jobs, according to the city digitalization department.
The MOST business incubator has 292 startups, and the IRA program has attracted 42 startups from Central Asia.
