Longest road tunnel in Kazakhstan to be put into operation in July

Several important projects are planned to be completed this year. The longest road tunnel in Kazakhstan, located on the Shakpak Baba pass in the Turkestan region (840 m), will be put into operation in July, El.kz reports citing primeminister.kz.

Overpass pedestrian at the railway at station Shamalgan of Karasai district of Almaty region by highway of regional significance, with a length of 6 km, will be opened in September.

The third project is the commissioning of the Merke-Burylbaital highway with a length of 262 km, connecting the central and northern regions of the country with the corridor "Western Europe - Western China".

The fourth, the construction of a bridge across the Bukhtarma reservoir with a length of 1.3 km in Eastern Kazakhstan is planned to be completed this year. The opening of the bridge will ensure safe traffic for residents who use the ferry in the summer and move on the ice in the winter.

"The bridge will connect 4 districts of the East Kazakhstan region. This historic project has been discussed for 60 years. Thanks to the relevant decision of the Head of State, the project is being implemented and will be put into operation by the end of the year," Marat Karabayev said.
