Less than half of voters voted in elections of deputies of maslikhats

In the recent elections of deputies of maslikhats, held in 11 regions of Kazakhstan to replace those who withdrew, voter turnout reached 40.25%, El.kz reports with reference to the Central Election Commission

Elections were held on October 29 in a number of oblasts, including Abay, Aktobe, Almaty, East Kazakhstan and others, as well as in the city of Almaty. As a result, two regional, seven city and 12 district deputies of maslikhats were elected. 232 election commissions of various levels were involved in the organization and conduct of the elections. A total of 69 candidates were nominated.

Within the framework of the elections, competitiveness was very high: on average, more than three candidates were presented per deputy seat. The greatest interest was in constituency No. 4 in Almaty with six candidates. The smallest is in the Zhetysu region, where only two candidates are represented in a number of constituencies. Of the 21 new deputies, most were nominated by political parties, the rest were self-nominated. Among those elected, there are 18 men and three women of various nationalities.

The Central Election Commission stressed that the average age of the new deputies is 43.8 years. The entire voting and election campaign process complied with the laws of Kazakhstan. On election day, more than 780 representatives of candidates, observers and journalists were engaged in their observation.
