Yerlan Koshanov congratulated Valentina Matvienko on her re-election as head of the Federation Council and thanked for her significant contribution to strengthening inter-parliamentary ties. He noted that inter-parliamentary cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia is actively developing.
"The visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kazakhstan emphasized the high intensity of our inter-parliamentary relations. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev always emphasizes the special role of parliaments in the development of bilateral partnership," Yerlan Koshanov said.
Valentina Matvienko, in turn, stressed that the achieved level of partnership between Kazakhstan and Russia requires the active participation of parliaments. She expressed confidence that the parliamentarians of both countries will continue to make a significant contribution to the implementation of joint projects and initiatives.
"The parliaments of Kazakhstan and Russia are an example of intensive and productive relations between the branches of power of the two states", Matvienko said.
At the meeting, issues of cooperation in lawmaking, as well as in the fields of culture, education, innovation and other areas were discussed.
