Kazakhstan’s schoolchildren to represent country at Robotics Championship in China

From August 7 to 10, the city of Macao will host the largest international robotics championship for school students — the FIRST LEGO League Asia Open Championship. Kazakhstan will be represented at this prestigious competition by nine teams, BAQ.KZ.

The national team includes students from Shymkent, Almaty, as well as the Turkistan and Kyzylordaregions. All of them demonstrated a high level of preparation in engineering and programming. Now, the young Kazakhstanis are ready to compete for top honors against 500 teams from 30 countries.

This marks a significant milestone for the country’s education system.

To date, 128 new-format schools have been built in Kazakhstan, serving more than 300,000 students. The modern STEM laboratories in the “Schools of the Future” have paved the way for students across all regions to develop their engineering and scientific potential.

“As a result, they are becoming internationally competitive professionals,” said Mereke Amangeldikyzy, official representative of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The Macao championship will serve not only as a technical challenge but also as a platform for cultural exchange, international experience, and global collaboration. This year’s competition theme is dedicated to ocean and water resource exploration. Kazakhstani students will present their engineering solutions and scientific projects in this field.
