Kazakhstan's political and economic reforms discussed in South Africa

Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in South Africa hosted a round table on the topic “The political and economic development of Kazakhstan and the prospects for cooperation with South Africa”, which was attended by South African diplomats, members of Parliament and local municipality, as well as representatives of the business community, academia and the media, El.kz cites MFA.

Ambassador of Kazakhstan Yerkin Akhinzhanov informed the participants of the round table about the implementation of political, social and economic reforms in Kazakhstan, which has been conducted under the leadership of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the outcome of the elections of members of the Mazhilis (Lower Chamber) of the Parliament and Maslikhats (local assemblies) in Kazakhstan, as well as the main initiatives and goals set by the President to the new Government of the country.

CEO and Editor-in-Chief of The Diplomatic Informer journal Susan Novella shared her impressions about her trip to Kazakhstan, where she went to cover the parliamentary elections. She noted the high level of organization, as well as the transparency of the elections.

Participants of the round table were actively engaged in discussion of various topics related to the reforms in political, economic, social and human areas, including strengthening the rule of law and building a Just Kazakhstan. They also raised the issues related to the investment potential of Kazakhstan and the prospects for further bilateral cooperation between Kazakhstan and South Africa.

South African participants highly appreciated the level of ongoing democratic reforms and noted the great potential for the growth and development of Kazakhstan.
