The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Greece Yerlan Baudarbek-Kozhatayev held a meeting with the Chairman of the Standing Committee on National Defence and Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Parliament Dora Bakoyannis.
The Ambassador familiarized the Greek politician with the main provisions of the State of the Nation Address “Economic course of a Just Kazakhstan”.
Bakoyannis noted that she is aware of the structural political and economic reforms carried out by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. According to her, large-scale transformations in Kazakhstan are also positively perceived in the European Union.
She warmly recalled the joint work with Kazakhstan in the OSCE Troika in 2009, when she was Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Hellenic Republic. D. Bakoyannis noted that Greece attaches special importance to the strengthening and further development of bilateral cooperation with Kazakhstan, drawing attention to the potential in the field of economy and tourism. In this context, she emphasized the importance for the Greek side of a direct flight between Almaty and Heraklion (Crete).
According to the results of the meeting, she expressed her intention to intensify inter-parliamentary cooperation on a bilateral basis, as well as on international platforms, including by strengthening cooperation through «friendship groups».
