Kazakhstan’s IT exports reach $1.1 bln over 7 years

Over the past seven years, Kazakhstan has significantly increased its exports of IT services, expanded internet coverage, and raised the share of digital government services. The Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development presented the results of the country’s digital transformation for 2019–2026, El.kz reports.

According to the Ministry, exports of IT services increased from $30 million to $1.142 billion. The Ministry also separately reports that exports generated by Astana Hub residents reached $633 million. Official data for 2025 confirm that Kazakhstan’s total exports of domestic IT services exceeded $1 billion for the first time.

The Ministry also reported growth in exports of space technologies. While this area was virtually non-existent in 2019, exports had reached $70 million by 2026.

Another major change concerns access to the internet. According to the Ministry, population coverage increased from 84% to 98%, while the average connection speed rose from 21 Mbps to approximately 90 Mbps. The rollout of 5G networks is also continuing across the country.

Government services have also undergone significant changes. The share of digitized public services increased from 80% to 91%, while 96% of digital government services are now accessible via smartphones.

Kazakhstan has also improved its position in the United Nations E-Government Development Index. The Ministry states that since 2019, the country has moved up from 39th to 24th place among 193 countries.

The most significant growth over this period was recorded in the volume of cashless payments. According to the Ministry, their volume increased from KZT 13.3 trillion to KZT 186.3 trillion.

The Ministry attributes these developments to the transition from the basic digitization of public services to the export of domestically developed technologies. In 2025, Kazakhstan’s IT exports exceeded imports of foreign digital solutions by more than 2.5 times.
