The Kazakhstani athlete took silver in 54.58 seconds. The United Arab Emirates representativeMariam Kareem crossed the finish line first.
The silver medal is another continental-level achievement for Adelina Zems. The Karaganda-based athlete has specialised in the 400 metres hurdles for several years and has consistently ranked among the leading athletes in the region.
The 20th Asian Games in Aichi–Nagoya will conclude till October,4. The athletics programme is nearing its conclusion, with Kazakhstan still having opportunities to secure additional medals in the remaining athletics events.
