Kazakhstani student dies in Italy

The body of a 21-year-old Kazakhstani national was discovered among the coastal rocks in the Italian town of Briatico, El.kz reports.

What is known about the incident

Nurdaulet Masharipov was found dead on June 9 in the coastline of Briatico. According to preliminary data, the cause of death may have been drowning. The circumstances of the tragedy are currently being investigated by Italian law enforcement agencies in cooperation with Kazakhstani diplomats.

The young man was a graduate of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School (NIS) in Uralsk and was a third-year student at the University of Cassino (Unicas).

MFA comment and assistance to the family

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan confirmed the death of the citizen on June 11.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan expresses its sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased," the official statement said.

Kazakhstani diplomats are maintaining contact with the relatives and providing consular and legal assistance. The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Italy is working in coordination with the local competent authorities.
