Kazakhstan takes part in conference on Afghanistan

The participants agreed on the need to assist Afghanistan in overcoming acute social and economic problems.

The international conference “Afghanistan: Security and Economic Development" was held in Uzbekistan, El.kz reports with reference to Akorda.

Official representatives of Central Asian states, Russian Federation, USA, EU, China, India, Iran, Pakistan, various UN agencies and institutions took part in the Conference. Afghanistan was represented by Acting Foreign Minister Amir Muttaki.

The Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Talgat Kaliyev emphasized the need for a unified regional approach to the Afghan issue, further enhancing the role of the UN. The Ambassador stressed Kazakhstan's readiness to further strengthening trade and humanitarian ties with Afghanistan.
