Today in Astana, Speaker of the Mazhilis Yerlan Koshanov met with Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva, who is on an official visit to Kazakhstan. During the negotiations, the sides discussed the prospects for deepening interparliamentary interaction and exchanged views on key issues of bilateral relations, El.kz reports citing the press service of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan
During the meeting, Yerlan Koshanov congratulated the people of Uzbekistan on the upcoming Independence Day and wished the fraternal nation peace and prosperity.
“ The agenda of our bilateral relations is becoming increasingly substantive. Our cooperation is dynamically developing in the spirit of strategic partnership and alliance. And this is undoubtedly the result of the efforts of our Presidents, - Yerlan Koshanov noted.
Mazhilis Speaker Yerlan Koshanov noted that strategic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan is actively developing at the parliamentary level. He stressed that interparliamentary dialogue is a key tool for implementing agreements reached by the heads of state.
According to him, the dynamics and effectiveness of presidential meetings largely shape the nature of parliamentary relations. During Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s visit to Kazakhstan in 2021, the two presidents agreed that parliaments should oversee the fulfillment of all agreements. This led to the creation of the Council for Interparliamentary Cooperation.
Koshanov underlined that the Council is now working effectively, having already held two meetings — in Tashkent and Almaty. All agreements reached at the highest level are under parliamentary supervision and are being carefully implemented.
“Each meeting between our parliamentarians strengthens bilateral relations,” Koshanov said.
In turn, Tanzila Narbayeva expressed gratitude to the Kazakh side for the warm welcome and voiced confidence in the further strengthening of interparliamentary relations.
“On many issues, we share common positions. We always support each other. Our Presidents pursue a common goal — to create conditions for a decent life for citizens and to ensure peace, security, and stability. The Heads of State have set an ambitious task — to increase trade turnover between our countries to 10 billion US dollars by 2030. Our goal is to establish the legislative foundation for implementing the agreements reached by our Presidents,” Tanzila Narbayeva said.
