Shezhire in AI era: Maksat Zhabagin on preserving national digital heritageIn Kazakhstan, official calls from companies and organizations will soon be marked with a special label. This will help citizens easily distinguish them from suspicious and fraudulent calls, El.kz reports.
This provision is included in legislative amendments currently being reviewed by the Mazhilis (the lower house of Parliament).
Deputy PM and Minister of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development Zhaslan Madiyev stated that the labeling is being introduced specifically to protect the public from telephone fraud.
Subscribers will now be able to see immediately that a call is coming from a legitimate company rather than an unknown number. This is expected to significantly reduce the number of successful scam attempts.
The changes are part of a major bill focused on the development of telecommunications and the fight against illegal activities on communication networks.
