Kazakhstan to open five branches of leading foreign universities

An expanded meeting of the board of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Astana, El.kz news agency reports.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Altai Kulginov, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, as well as representatives of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Parliament, rectors of universities, heads of research institutes.

A report on the results of 2022 and tasks for 2023 in the light of the election program of the Head of State was made by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek.

According to the minister, today more than 626 thousand students receive higher education in the country. The main tasks of the Ministry are to increase their capacity.  

Also, according to the minister, until 2025, scholarships will be increased by 50%. In addition, there are plans to open five branches of the world's leading universities in Kazakhstan. In addition, in connection with the President's instruction announced in the address, the implementation of a system for providing preferential loans for training is planned for the 2023-2024 academic years.
