On June 16, a law on ensuring the rights of women and the safety of children will come into force in Kazakhstan, which provides for the legislative consolidation of the status of regional commissioners for children's rights. This was announced at a briefing at the Central Communications Service by the Deputy Chairman of the Committee for the Protection of Children's Rights of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yuliya Ovechkina, El.kz reports.

Since 2022, regional commissioners for children's rights have already been working in 20 regions of the country. According to Ovechkina, during their activities, they have shown high efficiency, working in close connection with the Commissioner for Children's Rights of the Republic of Kazakhstan and protecting the rights of children in their regions

"Regional commissioners coordinate interdepartmental communication, keep under personal control each case of violation of children's rights and are members of the Commission on the Rights of Child in their region. The introduction of the institution of regional ombudsmen for children's rights is an important step in strengthening the system for the protection of children's rights. This will make it possible to respond more effectively to violations of children's rights and prevent them, providing each child with reliable protection and support," Yuliya said

The competence of the Commissioner for Children's Rights includes the coordination of the activities and organization of interaction of the 111 contact center with state and public institutions.
