On August 16, 2025, Kazakhstan will host the country’s first-ever national veterans sport event dedicated to Sports Day. This landmark event, organized with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, will mark an important milestone in honoring those who have dedicated their lives to the development of Kazakhstani sports, El.kz reports.
The forum will bring together legendary athletes, Olympic champions and medalists, world champions, honored coaches, and prominent sports figures whose names are forever in the history of Kazakhstani sports. It will serve not only as a celebration of achievements but also as a significant step in recognizing the contributions of those who have built the nation’s sporting glory over decades.
Forum goals: unity of generations and preservation of traditions
The forum aims to strengthen ties between generations of athletes, promote sports, and preserve Kazakhstan’s unique traditions. As emphasized by the organizers, the Union of Sports Veterans of Kazakhstan, the event seeks to ensure that veterans remain in the public spotlight even after concluding their active careers. It is not only a tribute to their work but also an opportunity to pass on their experience, resilience, and sporting spirit to the younger generation, which continues to bring glory to Kazakhstan on the world stage.
The forum will reflect the fact that the achievements of Kazakhstani sports are the result of many years of effort, dating back even before the nation’s independence.
The Forum will feature:
• A conference of the Union of Sports Veterans of Kazakhstan and a meeting with branch heads to discuss support for veterans, the development of mass sports, and their involvement in public life.
• Tournaments among veterans in asyk atu, table tennis, billiards, and chess. These competitions will demonstrate that sports remain an integral part of veterans’ lives, inspiring young people to lead an active lifestyle.
The Forum will officially open on August 16 at 10:00 a.m. This year, the holiday is accompanied by around 150 sporting events across the country, with the Forum serving as its central highlight.
