The head of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Sayasat Nurbek, discussed with master's students of Columbia University the attraction of foreign students to universities in Kazakhstan, El.kz reports with reference to the Ministry of Science and Higher Education .

The Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan is actively working on the creation of a research academic hub in the country. Its goal is to attract young people from the regions of countries with a population of about 2 billion people.

This project includes the internationalization of higher education institutions, the opening of branches of foreign institutes and the development of systemic financial and regulatory support measures. Particular attention is paid to licensing and the formation of a new legislative framework for the future academic center, as well as significant investments in the infrastructure of higher education.

In the context of these efforts, undergraduates from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University conducted a study for the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the results of which were presented to Minister Sayasat Nurbek. An active initiator of this project was a Bolashak scholarship holder, a graduating SIPA master's student Danat Baibulov.

The study aims to identify key factors that can contribute to attracting international students to Kazakhstan and forming the country as an educational hub.

The focus is on 6 key aspects: the quality of education, its accessibility, the level of research and innovation, internationalization, employment opportunities and government support.

The presentation of the study sparked an active exchange of views and a meaningful discussion between the participants of the meeting, identifying a number of key factors that may influence the choice of Kazakhstan by students as a preferred country for study.

It is expected that the final results and recommendations of the study will be published in the coming months, which will be an important step towards the implementation of Kazakhstan's strategic goal set by the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
