Kazakhstan strengthens its position as a key Eurasian transit hub

Vice Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Zhanibek Taizhanov spoke about the large-scale modernization of the country’s transport infrastructure, El.kz reports.

According to him, the transport sector is becoming one of the key drivers of economic growth. Kazakhstan is modernizing its airports, expanding the geographic coverage of international flights, undertaking the construction and rehabilitation of 11,000 kilometers of roads, and upgrading railway infrastructure, railway stations, and border crossing points.

Particular attention is being paid to the development of infrastructure on the Caspian Sea. By 2030, the cargo handling capacity of the country’s seaports is planned to be increased to 30 mln tonnes.

The objective of the projects currently under implementation is to strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a key transit hub in Eurasia.
