At the extended meeting of the government, the President noted the importance of continuing the digitalization of the economy and ensuring the widespread use of artificial intelligence technologies. The Head of State said that the country is starting to create a high-performance supercomputer, which will be available not only to scientists, but also to various companies operating in our market, El.kz reports citing Minister of Digital Development, Innovations and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
On behalf of the Head of State, today the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Bagdat Mussin, Samruk-Kazyna JSC and Presight AI Ltd. signed an Agreement with Presight AI Ltd. on the main conditions for the project to create a supercomputer in Kazakhstan and the construction of the corresponding Data Processing Center (DPC).
This is a continuation of the agreements reached with the global leader in the field of artificial intelligence, Presight AI Ltd., in order to develop the digital infrastructure of Kazakhstan.
The project is planned to be implemented in two stages. The first involves the placement of computing power in the existing data center of NIT JSC (the ICT operator of the e-government), and the second is the construction of a new data center with the placement of a large amount of computing power.
Earlier, Bagdat Mussin noted the importance of creating his national LLM (Large Language Model) for the possibility of introducing AI in all spheres of the economy, as well as in e-government.
Thus, the Ministry has organized joint work with Nazarbayev University, the Til-Kazyna Foundation and other institutes to prepare for the creation of Kazakh LLM for the widespread use of artificial intelligence in the sectors of the economy and e-government, as well as to develop a mechanism for providing access to computing power to startups, institutes and research centers in Kazakhstan.
A number of startups and companies engaged in the implementation of artificial intelligence have appeared on the market, such as: Cerebra, ForUS.Data, GoatChat.AI, Higgsfield AI, AI Labs, Sergek Group, etc. After successful testing in Kazakhstan, the project entered the Uzbek market. Higgsfield AI has made a significant breakthrough in the field of AI by creating an advanced system that helps scientists and engineers train highly complex computer models.
At the same time, there is a need on the part of the market, higher education institutions, the scientific community and government agencies to create a technological infrastructure (supercomputer) for the successful development of AI tools.
It should be noted that sectors of the economy will benefit significantly from AI, including information technology, financial services, healthcare, energy, and manufacturing.
In addition, the launch of technological infrastructure (supercomputer) will determine Kazakhstan's leadership in Central Asia in the development of artificial intelligence and provide an opportunity to computing power for neighboring countries.
