Kazakhstan ready to strengthen industrial cooperation with Belarus – Kazakh PM

Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov held a meeting with Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko on the eve of the next meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government in Astana, El.kz cites primeminister.kz.

The parties discussed issues of trade and economic cooperation, industrial cooperation, cooperation in agriculture and the Days of Culture of Kazakhstan in Belarus.

Alikhan Smailov said that Kazakhstan plans to expand exports to the Belarusian market as part of efforts to increase mutual trade. In this regard, the Government has updated the list of potential exports, which will soon be sent to the leadership of Belarus. On the whole, last year the trade turnover between the countries increased by 20%.

"At this stage we are ready to work together on the supply of 105 types of non-primary goods in various industries," Alikhan Smailov said.

According to him, one of the priority directions of bilateral cooperation is also industrial cooperation. Today, 7 projects have been launched jointly creating 1.5 thousand jobs, and 2 more projects are underway. According to the Prime Minister, it is important not to lower the effectiveness of this work.

In turn, Roman Golovchenko noted great prospects of launching joint projects in agriculture, in particular, commodity dairy complexes in Kazakhstan according to Belarusian technology.

In general, the Prime Minister of Belarus confirmed his readiness to purposefully strengthen cooperation across the entire spectrum of bilateral relations.
