Kazakhstan ranks as country with low level of discrimination

The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development has published the 5th edition of the Index of Social Institutions and Gender, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to the SIGI index, Kazakhstan is rated as a country with a low level of discrimination (22%). In 2019, the rating was also 22%.

Kazakhstan's position on the sub-index "Level of Discrimination in the Family" of the SIGI index in 2023 was improved by 15%. According to experts, this is a good indicator, since the average level in Central Asia is 22%.

The Ministry of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan coordinated the work on Kazakhstan's participation in this study. A total of 179 countries took part in the study.

The 2023 SIGI database will enable policymakers and practitioners to identify where discrimination against girls and women is most persistent worldwide. Also establish starting points to combat discriminatory laws, norms and practices that are entrenched in today's society.
