Shezhire in AI era: Maksat Zhabagin on preserving national digital heritageIn January–July 2026, Kazakhstan produced 9.1 thousand tonnes of tea and coffee, including 3.8 thousand tonnes of tea. The bulk of tea production is concentrated in Almaty, which accounts for 92.1% of the country’s total tea output, equivalent to 3.5 thousand tonnes.
Domestic production remains well below market demand. During the first half of the year, Kazakhstan imported 18.3 thousand tonnes of tea, with imports accounting for 74.1% of the supply in this product category.
Meanwhile, 3.9 thousand tonnes of tea and coffee were exported, while total domestic sales amounted to 20.8 thousand tonnes.
Average tea consumption per capita in Kazakhstan is approximately 100 grams per month.
Kenya remains the country’s leading foreign supplier of tea, accounting for 27.2% of total tea imports. Significant volumes are also imported from India, Russia, Italy and China.
