Kazakhstan ranked first among the CIS countries featured in the Immigration Index 2026, El.kz reports citing Remitly.

In the overall global ranking, Kazakhstan placed 53rd. The country received a score of 36 out of 100.

About the Index

The Immigration Index 2026 was prepared by the American company Remitly. The study evaluated 82 countries based on 34 indicators.

The authors took into account the cost of living, healthcare, safety, income levels, education, environmental quality, transport, and the strength of immigrant communities. Visa regulations were not included in the ranking, as they vary significantly depending on citizenship, profession, and specific relocation programs.

The Leaders

Switzerland took the top spot in the ranking with a score of 60.8 points.

It is followed by Iceland, Luxembourg, Australia, and Germany. The top ten also included Ireland, the United States, Denmark, Norway, and Spain.

Kazakhstan’s Regional Standings

Among the CIS countries included in the ranking, Kazakhstan outperformed its neighbors. Moldova took 56th place, while Georgia was positioned at 63rd.

Azerbaijan followed at 66th place, Armenia at 74th, and Uzbekistan at 75th. Remitly emphasizes that the ranking should be viewed as a guide rather than a universal answer for all migrants.

Important Information for Immigrants in Kazakhstan

Following the release of the ranking, Kazakhstan has launched online diagnostic testing in the Kazakh language for immigrants arriving for permanent residence. Applications are accepted through the website app.testcenter.kz.

The testing is conducted via the KAZTEST system and consists of listening and reading sections. The duration of the test is 70 minutes, and the participation fee is 9,000 tenge.
