The Economic Forum of Central Asian Countries was held in Dushanbe (Tajikistan). During the panel session, the Minister of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Kuantyrov noted the importance of this forum, designed to strengthen trade and economic cooperation between the Central Asian countries, the El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the ministry.
It is important to form an effective network of regional supply chains. Given the geographical location, we should join forces to diversify economies and expand mutual trade, economic and investment ties," the minister stressed.
According to him, despite the difficulties, there is a positive growth trend in the region. In 2022, Kazakhstan's trade turnover with Central Asian countries amounted to $8 billion, which is 25% more than in 2021.
"Kazakhstan can increase the supply of finished and processed products to the region for billions of dollars in 300 types of goods in various industries," Alibek Kuantyrov said.
He also spoke in detail about the investment climate in Kazakhstan. Last year, the Concept of Investment Policy until 2026 was adopted. It provides for a set of measures to change the structure of investment towards the production of high value-added goods.
"Within the framework of various investment contracts, a number of benefits and preferences are provided. In the near future, new projects in the processing sector will be exempt from a number of taxes for 3 years. The number of taxes and payments will be reduced by 20%, and tax reporting forms by 30%," the minister said.
As the head of the Ministry of National Economy emphasized, Kazakhstan took 36th place in the IMD digital competitiveness rating last year, ahead of Slovenia, Portugal, Italy, Poland and Turkey. He recalled that the Head of State, in his Address to the people of Kazakhstan, set the task for the Government to bring the export of the IT industry to $1 billion by 2026.
