Kazakhstan enters Top 20 with best education system

Kazakhstan has secured 18th place in the international ranking of education systems, El.kz reports.

Kazakhstan is now among the 20 countries with the strongest positions in the global educational space. In the Insider Global Education Index, the republic ranked 18th, scoring 0.092 points.

This result demonstrates that the Kazakhstani education system is strengthening its position among nations with a sustainably developing and internationally integrated academic environment. In the ranking, Kazakhstan outperformed Poland, the United Arab Emirates, and several major economies, including Mexico, Brazil, and South Africa.

The United States remains the ranking leader, followed by the United Kingdom and China.

The top ten also includes Germany, Australia, Japan, and South Korea. These countries traditionally maintain strong positions due to an advanced research base, significant investment in science, and a high concentration of leading universities.

The Insider Global Education Index is compiled based on three key indicators: the presence of universities in the QS Top 1000, their average rankings, and the level of government investment in education.

As noted, these parameters are directly linked to the quality of specialist training, the scientific potential of universities, and the degree of their international integration.

Against this backdrop, Kazakhstan is forming its own model for the development of higher education.

Currently, over 10 of the country's universities are included in the QS Top 1000, including Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU), L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University (ENU), and Satbayev University.

Additional stability is provided by government funding at the level of 3–4% of GDP. This ensures predictable development and supports ongoing reforms in higher education.

Simultaneously, international partnerships are expanding, academic mobility is increasing, and the interaction between universities and industry is strengthening. At this stage, the quality of research, global integration, and the ability of universities to join international scientific chains play a particularly vital role.

In this context, Kazakhstan continues to strengthen its institutional framework and build its academic reputation. Amid the global competition for talent, such rankings become a vital resource for long-term growth and the transition toward a knowledge-based economy.
