A meeting of the Board of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea was held in Astana, which was attended by delegations from Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. As a result, the parties signed six joint decisions, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The Work Plan of the IFAS Executive Committee for the chairmanship of Kazakhstan in 2024-2026 was approved The results of the implementation of two major regional projects were also considered: Aral Sea Basin Assistance Program (ASBP) and the Regional Program for Environmental Protection for Sustainable Development in Central Asia.
Separately, the meeting participants considered the activities of the Working Group on improving the organizational structure and legal framework of IFAS. The parties discussed the results of the 12th meeting of the Working Group, which took place in Astana at the beginning of the month.
In addition, the IFAS countries confirmed their participation in the "One Water" summit, which will be jointly hosted by Kazakhstan and France.
