Kazakhstan approved action plan for implementation of SDGs for 2024

Issues of updating Kazakhstan's national indicators in the field of the UN Sustainable Development Goals were discussed today at the 7th meeting of the SDG Coordination Council, El.kz reports citing primeminister.kz.

The discussion, chaired by Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, was attended by heads of central government agencies, representatives of the UN, UNDP and the European Union.

Alikhan Smailov stressed that the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals is aimed at improving the quality of life of the population through the introduction of the best international standards.

"In September last year, the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev took part in the UN Summit on the Sustainable Development Goals. In his speech, the President noted that the achievement of the SDGs is a national priority for us. Therefore, we are always open to cooperation with all member states in the pursuit of a more just and sustainable world," the Prime Minister said.

Following the discussion, the Coordination Council approved the Action Plan for the implementation of the SDGs for 2024.

The Prime Minister demanded that government agencies ensure its timely and high-quality implementation.

"Today, we have set specific tasks that need to be consistently fulfilled throughout the year," he concluded.
