Kazakhstan and Switzerland expand trade, economic and investment cooperation

Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Switzerland Kairat Sarzhanov met with Federal Councillor, Head of the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research of Switzerland Guy Parmelin to discuss topical issues of trade, economic and investment cooperation between Kazakhstan and Switzerland, El.kz cites MFA.

During the conversation, the Ambassador of Kazakhstan acquainted the interlocutor with the main directions of current structural transformations, measures to expand the product range of Kazakhstan's exports and improve the investment climate, and also outlined the openness of the economy to European business. The Kazakh diplomat highlighted promising areas for expanding cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics, energy and the green economy, in particular recycling and waste disposal.

In his turn, the Federal Councillor gave a positive assessment of the ongoing reforms in Kazakhstan and confirmed the readiness of the Swiss side to expand cooperation and search for new opportunities for economic cooperation. G. Parmelen emphasized the strategic importance of the geographical location of Kazakhstan and the importance of the development of the transport and logistics industry in the light of the increasing role of the Middle Corridor to ensure world food and energy security.

During the meeting, the issues of holding the next meeting of the Kazakhstan-Switzerland Business Council, scheduled in Astana this year, were considered.
