According to the results of 9 months of 2023, the trade turnover of agricultural products between Kazakhstan and Germany amounted to $94 million. The volume of exports from Kazakhstan to Germany amounted to $23.5 million, imports from Germany to Kazakhstan - $70.3 million, El.kz reports citing Ministry of Agriculture.

To strengthen relations between the two countries, on November 15-17, 2023, a Kazakh delegation headed by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar visited Berlin. During the visit, the Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Abulkhair Tamabek met with the State Secretary under the Federal Minister of Agriculture and Food of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr. O. Nick.

At the meeting, the Vice Minister stressed that the priority areas of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany are seed production and plant protection, digital farming and agricultural innovations. For example, last year, Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of cooperation with PETKUS Technologie GmbH, which allowed domestic farmers to receive breeding and seed-growing equipment at a discount.

An agreement was also reached to provide consulting support to Kazakh specialists on modern technologies in seed production and to conduct joint training seminars

A competence center was opened to train college students and young professionals in the maintenance and repair of CLAAS equipment on the principle of dual training.

Abulkhair Tamabek noted that many German companies are already making a significant contribution to the training of professional and technical personnel through their own training centers in Kazakhstan.

"I would also like to note the high level of cooperation within the framework of bilateral cooperation projects "Agrarian-Political Dialogue" (APD), "German Agrarian Center" and "Improving Competencies in the Field of Milk Production in Kazakhstan".

The activities of existing centers and projects are positively assessed by both parties and make a significant contribution to the development of Kazakh-German cooperation in the agro-industrial complex," the vice minister said.

He added that the Kazakh delegation will take part in the 88th Green Week 2023 Agricultural International Exhibition, which will be held from January 19 to 28, 2024 in Berlin.

Following the meeting, Kazakhstan and Germany signed a Joint Statement between the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the further development and deepening of cooperation within the framework of the bilateral cooperation project "German-Kazakh Agrarian and Political Dialogue".
