Kazakhstan and Finland strengthen trade and economic cooperation

Ambassador of Kazakhstan Azamat Abdraimov met with Minister for Foreign Trade and Development of Finland, Co-Chairperson of the Kazakh-Finnish Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation Ville Tavio, El.kz cites MFA.

The parties discussed expanding bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as signing the Protocol of the 13th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation.

Minister Tavio stated that Finland welcomes the continuation of a high-level dialogue between Finland and Kazakhstan and appreciates cooperation of Kazakhstan with the European Union in the field of critical resources and the participation in the “Team Europe” initiative.

During the conversation, the Ambassador informed about the measures taken by the Government of Kazakhstan on further development of socio-economic and political situation in the country. Special attention was given to explaining economic and democratic reforms of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, as well as attracting foreign investments and ensuring adherence of Kazakhstan to international obligations.

The Finnish side, in turn, expressed support for the policies of the leadership Kazakhstan.

Highlighting the growth dynamics in bilateral trade turnover in 2023, the Ambassador emphasized the need to intensify trade, economic and investment cooperation, using the significant potential and growth prospects in the Central Asian region. Both sides stressed that the interests of the two countries align on many economic issues, underscoring the importance of experience exchange, further establishment of business contacts and exploration of new opportunities.
