Kazakhstan and Cyprus can launch direct flights

A legal framework has been established for the opening of flights with Cyprus, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Civil Aviation Committee.

On March 25, 2024, within the framework of the official meeting of the Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan M.A. Nurtleu with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Konstantinos Kombos, a Memorandum of Understanding on air communication issues, prepared by the aviation authorities of the two countries, was signed.

The Memorandum of Understanding provides for the rights to operate up to 7 flights per week by the designated carriers of each of the parties. There is also provision for multiple assignments of carriers on each side.

In accordance with the Memorandum, Kazakh airlines have the right to carry out transportation to the cities on the territory of the Republic of Cyprus - Larnaca and Paphos, Cypriot airlines to the cities on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Astana and Almaty.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding will strengthen economic, business and tourism cooperation between the two countries.
