Kazakhstan and China strengthen border crossing capacities

The Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan Marat Karabayev and China's minister of transport Liu Wei conducted a joint inspection of the operations at the "Nur Zholy" automobile crossing point on the Kazakhstan-China border, El.kz reports citing the press service of the ministry.

The visit took place as part of strengthening bilateral cooperation and developing cross-border logistics. The heads of the transport ministries familiarized themselves with the conditions of crossing the border.

Following the meeting, the ministers agreed to take joint measures to improve the functioning of border crossing points. Special attention will be given to reducing administrative barriers, increasing throughput, and digitizing processes.

The parties decided to create a permanent working group of specialized experts to address current issues promptly. The next round of negotiations at the ministerial level will take place in a month.

Representatives of border and customs services involved in ensuring the uninterrupted flow of cargo also participated in the event.

It should be noted that since last year, Kazakhstan and China have switched to electronic exchange of permit forms. By 2025, the parties had already exchanged 90,000 such forms.
