Kazakhs and Kyrgyz are brotherly nations: President Tokayev on bilateral relations

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the special nature of relations between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan during the Informal Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, El.kz reports citing the Aqorda.

The Head of State expressed his gratitude to President Sadyr Japarov of the Kyrgyz Republic for the warm hospitality and for initiating the meeting. He noted that the Kazakh and Kyrgyz peoples are united by a shared history, close kinship, and a long-standing tradition of mutual support.

“Kazakhs and Kyrgyz are brotherly nations. We are united by our common origins and shared destiny. The friendship, trust, kinship, and mutual support between our peoples constitute a sacred legacy and enduring values bequeathed to us by our ancestors,” President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stated.

The President of Kazakhstan also highlighted Kyrgyzstan’s economic progress, emphasizing that the prosperity of the neighbouring country is important for the stability and sustainable development of the Central Asian region as a whole.

According to Tokayev, the informal meeting provides an opportunity to discuss key issues on the regional agenda and identify future priorities for multilateral cooperation.

The Head of State also welcomed the completion of the signing process of the Treaty on Friendship, Good-Neighbourliness and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the Twenty-First Century.

President Tokayev described the treaty as a new milestone in strategic partnership. He noted that the document establishes a political framework for regional cooperation based on mutual trust, mutual respect, and shared responsibility for the future of the peoples of Central Asia.
