Kazakh PM holds meeting on reforming construction industry

It is planned to expand the opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses to participate in public procurement

Alikhan Smailov held a meeting on reforming the construction industry and increasing its competitiveness, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the head of the Cabinet.

Speaking with a report, Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Yerkebulan Dauylbayev noted that following the development of mechanisms to improve the efficiency of the construction industry, a package of legislative amendments was prepared.

Thus, thanks to the introduction of new norms, it is planned to expand the opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses to participate in public procurement, to limit the activities of illegal and unproductive subcontractors, as well as unqualified licensees.

In addition, it is planned to provide market entities with equal opportunities when obtaining land plots, improve the sphere of shared construction and ensure decent wages throughout the industry.

It is expected that the adoption of legislative amendments will allow to more evenly distribute the volume of construction, improve the quality and transparency of the work performed.

The Prime Minister supported the main part of the presented innovations and instructed the interested state bodies to further work out those points, the implementation of which requires more detailed calculations.
