The Asia Pacific Open Championship, which brought together more than 300 children from 10 countries, including the USA, China, Canada and India, was held at the top university in Australia, Macquarie University. In the senior category of the FIRST Tech Challenge, the honor of Kazakhstan was defended by two teams from the Almaty RFMSH and the Astana Nurorda. The silver medal of the championship was won by the Bolt.M3 team from the Russian Medical School, which at the same time was nominated for two prestigious awards Think Award and Connect Award, El.kz reports

According to Asylbek Murzakhmetov, head of the USTEM Robotics Foundation, silver and two prestigious awards, which were in the piggy bank of the national team, became a record among the participants of the championship. They note the high professionalism of the team and contribution to the development of STEM in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.

“When we were presented with the prestigious Connect Award, the third most important of the main award, we were very happy and did not even hope to receive a higher award, but it happened that the next Think Award and the silver of the championship were awarded to our team.

These competitions for us are not only a powerful experience and building professional connections, but also an opportunity to declare our country as highly technological and developed in STEM. All three days of the competition, in the breaks between matches, we tried to acquaint participants from other countries with the culture of our country, playing our national games with them and treating them with Kazakh delicacies," says team captain Tair Karenev.
