During the meeting , Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that since its joining the organization in 2007, Kazakhstan demonstrated its commitment to compliance with EITI standards.
The obligation of subsoil users to comply with the requirements of the organization and submit reports on taxes and other payments to the country's budget is enshrined.
The President informed the head of the EITI on the regulatory measures taken in the field of exploration and production. In particular, a Comprehensive Plan for the development of the industry was adopted, a Unified Subsoil Use Platform was launched, including an interactive map and more than 50 thousand geological reports. In addition, business processes for obtaining licenses for exploration and production work have been simplified.
Helen Clark shared the organization's strategic plans and key priorities for the coming period. She also praised Kazakhstan's efforts to improve its legislation in the field of subsoil use in line with the transparency requirements of the extractive industry.
