Kazakh President: It is planned to open branch of Moscow State Institute of International Relations in Kazakhstan

President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking at the conference conference “Sustainable Development and Security in the Eurasian Space”, noted the important role of the education sector in strengthening friendly ties between the Kazakhstan and Russia. According to him, more than 60,000 students from Kazakhstan are currently studying in Russia, El.kz news agency reports with reference to the press service of Akorda.

"Today, branches of well-known Russian universities are successfully operating in our country. It is planned to open a branch of  Moscow State Institute of International Relations in Kazakhstan," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.

During the plenary session, Assistant to the President of Russia to the President of Russia Vladimir Medinsky read out a greeting from President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the conference participants.

In his speech, MSIIR Rector Anatoly Torkunov thanked the Kazakh side for organizing the event timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the university.

"It is no coincidence that we have chosen the topic of the conference, combining traditional issues of multilateral cooperation in the field of economy and security with new challenges of the climate agenda, dynamic topics for the development of energy and transport infrastructure in the Eurasian space," MSIIR Rector Anatoly Torkunov emphasized.

The conference was attended by prominent Kazakh and Russian scientists, veterans of the diplomatic service, heads of state bodies and institutions, political scientists, as well as representatives of youth organizations.
