While in Aktobe region with a working visit, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov familiarized himself with the condition of sewage treatment facilities (STF) of Aktobe city and plans for the construction of new ones, El.kz cites primeminister.kz.
Aktobe sewage treatment plants were commissioned in 1981. Currently, the main facilities are in unsatisfactory technical condition, depreciation has reached 80%. To date, a feasibility study has been developed for the construction of new sewage treatment plants. The document has already received a positive conclusion of the state expert examination. In addition, a detailed roadmap for the project implementation has been approved, which provides for activities from preparation of documentation to commissioning of the facility.
According to Akim of Aktobe region Yeraly Tugzhanov, the construction of STF will solve one of the main environmental problems of Aktobe city which is air pollution by hydrogen sulfide.
At the same time, the Prime Minister pointed out that the solution of environmental problems of Aktobe city is one of the priority tasks of local executive bodies.
"Industrial enterprises are air polluters and the cause of unpleasant odor in Aktobe. Regular fires at the landfill aggravate the situation. Justified dissatisfaction of Aktobe citizens is also caused by unsatisfactory work of garbage removal services. The regional Akimat should pay close attention to all these issues and take prompt measures to solve them," Alikhan Smailov noted.
With regard to the construction of new sewage treatment facilities, Head of Government noted the need to complete the preparation of all documentation by the end of the year and implement an important project for the city within the next 2-2.5 years. This issue will be under control of the Government.
