On November 9, 2023, the 16th summit of the member states of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) will be held in Tashkent, which will be attended by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov, El.kz reports with reference to the Kazakh MFA.
During the summit, the parties will discuss the current state and ways to further develop cooperation between the ECO member states in trade, economic, investment, transport, logistics and other spheres, as well as issues on the regional and international agenda.
During the event, the winners of the ECO Award will be announced. On behalf of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a well-known ethnographer, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Senior Researcher at the Chokan Valikhanov Institute of History and Ethnology of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Akhmet Toktabay, was nominated for the award in the category of history, culture, literature and fine arts.
The Economic Cooperation Organization is a regional interstate economic structure consisting of 10 member states (Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan). The Republic of Kazakhstan has been a member of the ECO since 1992.
