Alimzhan Akayev, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan, met with a delegation from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Republic of Kazakhstan, El.kz cites olympic.kz.
The meeting was attended by Ms. Cui Yinglan, Counselor of the Embassy of China, and Mr. Zhang Tai, Attache for Culture, Tourism, and Sports.
The parties exchanged plans for the coming year, discussed areas for further bilateral cooperation in sports sector, and reviewed events held last year, including the Winter Asian Games in Harbin. Particular attention was paid to the organization of the Asian Beach games Sanya-2026, which will take place from April 22 to 30 in Sanya (Hainan Island).
It was noted that the upcoming Games will be the 6-th Asian Beach Games and will bring together athletes from across the continent. The competition program includes 14 sports, combining traditional beach disciplines - such as volleyball, football, and 3×3 basketball - with various water sports, including surfing, open water swimming, and sailing.
During the meeting, the participants also considered issues of interaction between the sports authorities of the 2 countries, as well as the organizational and cultural aspects accompanying the hosting of international competitions.
The Secretary General of the NOC Kazakhstan, Alimzhan Akayev, noted the high level of organizational expertise of the Chinese side.
"China possesses rich and diverse experience in hosting major international multi-sport events at the highest level. I am confident that the upcoming Asian Beach Games in Sanya will also be organized in accordance with the highest international standards and will become a significant event for the entire regional sporting community."
Furthermore, the delegations exchanged views on a number of current and future initiatives and discussed cooperation plans for the near term, emphasizing the importance of maintaining regular contact and constructive dialogue.
Following the meeting, the participants confirmed their readiness for further development of cooperation in the sports sector.
