One of the significant pages of their history was the mission in Iraq, where the Kazakh military made a significant contribution to security, El.kz reports citing Kazakh Ministry of Defence.
From August 2003 to October 2008, military engineers cleared 4.5 million explosive devices, equipped almost 19 km of non-explosive barriers and installed 617 signal mines.
In total, 290 servicemen of the Republic of Korea served in Iraq as part of the coalition forces. This mission was the first international test for the Kazakh military, confirming their professionalism.
For the successful completion of tasks, the personnel were awarded high government awards, and their work was recognized by international experts.
