Kazakh Cultural Day celebrated in Hungary

Kazakh-Hungarian “Barys” Foundation and the Abai Center with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Hungary held the Kazakh Culture Day in Hungary, El.kz cites MFA.

The event was attended by Ambassador Zhanibek Abdrashov, President of the Kazakh-Hungarian “Barys” Foundation András Gál, Head of the Abai Center and the Kazakh Diaspora Ongajsa Mándoki, Head of Representation Office of the Organization of Turkic States in Hungary János Hóvári, President of the “Eurasian Unity” Foundation István Bence, Professor of the Kazakh Language and Turkic Studies Department at Nazarbayev University, turkologist Dávid Somfai Kara, representatives of the Kazakh diaspora, students and Hungarian friends.

During his welcoming speech, András Gál spoke about the activities of the foundation, which has been developing scientific and cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Hungary for more than 25 years.

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan highlighted that the event is aimed at strengthening Kazakh traditions and customs among the Kazakh diaspora, as well as young people studying in higher educational institutions of Hungary.

The guests of the event were introduced to such traditions as “Tusau kesu”, “Betashar”, “Kyz Kuu” and the main genres of Kazakh folk music, such as “kuy”, “kuy-tartys” and “terme”. In addition, Hungarian musicians Tamás Palcsó and Török Tilla performed on dombra such Kazakh songs as “Kozimnin karasy” and “Kuanysh walsi”, as well as the Hungarian national song “Virágom - My Flower”.

Hungarian friends were also acquainted with Kazakh culinary traditions. At the end of the event, the guests were able to taste the traditional dishes of national cuisine presented at the festive table.
