Kazakh capital hosts 40th session of SCO RATS Council

Today, the 40th anniversary meeting of the Council of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (RATS SCO) was held in Astana under the chairmanship of the Republic of Kazakhstan, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

It was attended by delegations from the competent authorities of India, Iran, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the Executive Committee of the SCO RATS. Representatives of Belarus and Mongolia have been invited as observers.

Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Sagimbayev addressed the participants of the meeting with a welcoming speech. He noted that since its inception, the SCO RATS has made a significant contribution to the development of the Organization, has become a support and coordinating center of the combating terrorism, separatism and extremism at the regional and global levels.

The forum addressed the issues of identifying and suppressing channels for financing terrorism, as well as countering illicit arms trafficking. The interim results of the implementation of the Programme of Cooperation of the SCO Member States on Countering Terrorism, Separatism and Extremism for 2022-2024 have been summed up.

In addition, plans for the coming period were discussed. Thus, it is planned to hold a seminar and joint exercises on the territory of the Republic of India to prevent the use of the Internet for terrorist, separatist and extremist purposes.

The parties also signed a final document on the implementation of joint projects and other measures aimed at maintaining stability and security in the region. As a result, an agreement was reached to hold the next meeting of the SCO RATS on the territory of the People's Republic of China.
