The UNESCO headquarters in Paris hosted a gala concert “We Are Together” in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of the International Turkic Culture Organization (TURKSOY). The Permanent Delegations to UNESCO of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan assisted in organizing the event, El.kz cites MFA.
n his welcoming address to the participants, Secretary General of TURKSOY Sultan Raev noted that the organization for three decades has been consistently fulfilling its mission of a “spiritual golden bridge” between peoples with common roots and closely related languages and cultures.
In turn, UNESCO Assistant Director-General Anthony Ohameng-Boamah expressed his gratitude to the organizers for the initiative to hold the beautiful event and stressed the role of TURKSOY in promoting the significant contribution of Turkic-speaking peoples to the humanity’s culture and progress.
The concert itself, which gathered a full house in the main hall of UNESCO, was marked by a remarkable harmony of musical pieces and traditions of Turkic peoples, coherence of actions and mutual support between the artists.
The program featured folklore songs and dances, including “Kara Zhorga”, as well as pieces by outstanding composers of Turkic peoples, including “Balbyrauyn” by Kurmangazy Sagyrbayuly and “Bulbul” by Latif Hamidi.
Kazakh artists and collectives made their excellent contributions to the common efforts, including Zarina Altynbayeva, soloist of the Abay State Theatre of Opera and Ballet, Folklore and Ethnographic Ensemble “Sazgen Sazy”, and dance group “Qazyna”.
Together with musicians from seven countries, they presented the Parisian audience and their compatriots living in the City of Light a marvelous evening of art and friendship, receiving a well-deserved thundering ovation at the end.
